Latif Maulan, Now You Don’t

True to their established form, the Hin Bus Depot team are putting on another collaborative event; Collective Individuals. Comprised of three collectives – Run Amok Gallery, Rumah Studio and Titikmerah Collective – the 18 artists involved aim to bridge the gap between a collective’s goals and an individual’s direction. With a mixture of artists from Kuala Lumpur and George Town, the exhibition promises to blend challenges and aspirations met by artists in the nation’s capital compared to those in Malaysia’s more colloquial heritage capital.

In the words of one of the exhibition’s organisers Ajim Juxta – an artist from Titikmerah Collective – “One of the more interesting aspects of the show for me has been the process in which each of the collective has had to work together in questioning its existence, which inevitably also asks personal questions of self-contribution to the group and the arts.”

Visit the exhibition from 3rd March until 21st March to discover how these three artist collectives are negotiating their survival in the art industry through the artwork on show. Can collectives sustain their existence in the future? This exhibition aims to prove that they can – or at least should.
