On the 10th and 11th of May STUCK will show in Komtar. Adam Bamptom-Smith of Big Wooden Horse from the UK teams up with Aaron Teoh and Safia Hanifah, two local stage performers. With Big Wooden Horse’s experience in producing theatre for children, and Teoh and Hanifah’s standing in the local musical theatre scene, it promises to be a memorable and colourful performance. In addition, the story follows that of the award-winning book written by Oliver Jeffers, author of “How to Catch a Star”, “Lost and Found” and “The Way Back Home”.
STUCK is a great little story about a little boy in a very sticky situation! It can be best described by some of its opening lines:
“It all begins when Floyd gets his kite stuck in a tree.
He throws up his shoe to shift it, but that gets stuck, so he throws up his other shoe and that gets stuck too.
Along with the cat, a ladder, a pot of paint, the kitchen sink, an orang-utan and a whale – and that’s only the beginning!”
The book’s story comes to George Town trailing numerous awards including the 2012 CBI Book Of the Year – Honour Award and the 2013 Orbil Pricze for Best Illustrated Book. It was also Shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize (2012) and Virgina Readers’ Choice Master List (2013). This acclaim clearly demonstrates that the play is suitably armed to be nothing short of a perfect evening out for those three and above. With the play’s infamous audience participation adults will have a fun time, as well.
