Following its hugely successful first Jazz@penangpac in June of this year, the Penang Jazz Society, and its flagship ensemble the Big Band of Penang (BBoP), return with Jazz@penangpac 2 on Saturday September 22nd. Headlining the evening, BBoP, which has recently performed in the 10th Thailand International Jazz Conference, Taipei Big Band Madness and the USM Music Festival will perform big band standards ranging from swing to afro-cuban, including (I’m Back Home Again In) Indiana, I Can’t Get Started, Chameleon, Polka Dot & MoonBeams, My Way & many more. As ever, the 20 or so members of BBoP will be led by exuberant and enthusiastic music director Jerome Quah. 

Other performances that evening will include the debut performance by a jazz quintet led by veteran jazz musician Lee Chong Heen, and who will cover jazz standards by Ellington, Jobim and others, and the new fresh repertoire of acoustic duo Joanna & Desmond. Also new on stage this time is The Noisy Bunch Ensemble, a youth big band formed under the Penang Jazz Society umbrella, who will entertain the audience with  funky and popular numbers from Bruno Mars and Camila Cabello amongst others.
