Ever since the wonderful new pipe organ at St George’s Church was installed last year, the Church has arranged a number of recitals and events to take full advantage of the beautiful sound it makes. The next recital planned, Galant on May 15th, promises to be a truly spectacular evening. Tatiana Zenaishvili, the Professor of Organ and Harpsichord at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, will serenade the audience with some of the most famous organ pieces from the baroque and classical music eras.
Ms Zenaishvili was born in Ukraine, and graduated in both piano and organ at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. Based in France afterwards, she won numerous awards including the Prix d”Excellence in harpsichord in Paris in 1994; and the Premier Prix of the Debussy Conservatory in Paris four times. She worked as Professor of harpsichord and organ at Northwestern University, Chicago, USA before returning to Moscow. She has an impressive list of published recordings of Baroque Music, an extensive record of solo recitals, and is Arts Director, soloist and producer of the Annual Baroque Festival in Moscow.
For this evening’s recital she has selected to play JS Bach’s Air in D Major and his Toccata & Fugue in D Minor, Mozart’s Fantasia in D Mino, Pachabel’s Toccata in E Minor and Aria Sebaldina, and selected pieces from Tchaikovsky’s “Children’s Album”.
The recital will begin at 7.30pm (doors open at 6.45pm). at St. George’s Church, 1 Lebuh Farquhar. Entry is by donation of a minimum of RM 30 for adults and RM 10 for children and students with a student card.
