Lovers of classical music are in for a treat on February 18th, as cellist Yoshiko Ikemura and pianist Tomonari Tsuchiya once again perform for us. 

Ms. Yoshiko was born in Japan, but now lives here in Malaysia. She started learning cello at the age of ten, won first prize in the Kyoto Music Association Music Competition, the first of many international prizes she h as won during her career. She plays in chamber groups and is often invited to be the guest principal cellist in professional orchestras.

Mr Tsuchiya similarly was born in Japan and resides now in Kuala Lumpur. He entered the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin at the age of fourteen with a full scholarship, studied at the Ecole Normale de Music in Paris, and in 2014 graduated with honours in Master of Performance in 2014 from Guildhall, London. He also has won many international prizes.

This year’s performance concentrates on the classics of the Romantic Era. The programme is:

Schumann: Adagio and Allegro Op.70
Chopin: Nocturne in D-flat major Op.27-2
Schubert: Arpeggione Sonata D.821
Franck: Sonata for Cello and Piano
