Penang Fashion Week returns for its 3rd year at Gurney Paragon Mall, and will present the latest fashion trends of a number of famous brands, as well as showcasing the creations of independent local and international designers.
Eighteen designers, of whom ten have exhibited at Penang Fashion Week before and eight are new faces, will parade their newest creations on the catwalk constructed in Gurney Paragon’s Atrium. Although for most shows, seating is limited to the invited guests of the designers, there is ample room around the periphery and upstairs balconies for the general public to enjoy the shows.

Returning fashion designers such as Illiza Ho (Taiwan), Eric Choong (KL), Keith Kee (Penang), Brandon Tan (Penang) and Ranndy Goh (Penang) are joined by newcomers Richard Li (Hong Kong), Mo Hom (Myanmar) and Bon Zainal (KL). Two design colleges (Esmod Kuala Lumpur and Equator College) will present designs created by their current students.
The gala launch at 7pm on 15th April will have an international invited audience; local shoe designer celebrity Datuk Jimmy Choo is expected to be amongst the guests. The launch will include a “best-of” runway event, which the public can overlook from the balcony above, with designs from designers such as Illiza Ho, Eric Choong, Richard Li, Mo Hom and Bon Zainal.
The following nine days see the designers’ individual cat walk shows (see schedule above), and the week ends with a closing ceremony on Sunday 23rd April, also at 7pm, featuring ten Penang ladies dressed in Kate Spade New York outfits and putting on a stage performance to raise money for charity. The event will also have a catwalk show by noted UK fashion designer, Tanya Stevens.
